1. Characteristics of MA2
MA2
is the most “true-to-fundamentals” grade
of CELPURGE, and its main characteristic is quite simply
its universal applicability. CELPURGE’s cleaning
performance is based on the mechanism described in article
No. 2. It offers the superior self-purging performance
that distinguishes CELPURGE without including inorganic
fillers and other additives to raise abrasion. Thus it
is also especially ideal for PC, PMMA, AS, ring polyolefins
(COP, COC), and other transparent resins.
Styrene resin
is used for the base resin. Styrene resin is one component
of the polymer alloys that Daicel Polymer has incorporated
in its products for many years due to its distinctive compatibility
with a variety of other resins, making it well-suited for
purging compounds. As an amorphous resin its viscosity
does not drop even when temperatures increase, therefore
it can be used in a wide range of processing temperatures
and is applicable for everything from general-purpose resins
to engineering plastics.

If you are unsure of which grade of CELPURGE to choose, start
with MA2.
2. Removal of Carbide Film from Cylinder and Screw
Surfaces
As mentioned in item 1), MA2 also contains a component
that plasticizes carbonized materials. Therefore MA2 is effective
to remove the partially cross-linked / carbonized layers
on surfaces of the cylinder and screw in the molding machine.
However, some of these carbide films are too stubborn even
for MA2. In these situations, filled grades are effective
because they contain additive fillers that improve abrasion.

of removal of carbon contamination.” )
